10:36 am - We're the new kids on the block, though we may not be Johann Sebastian Bach
How do I keep breaking needles on my sewing machine? *fumefume* I KNOW I bought a pack of universals not too long ago as well, but of course I can't find those. I was going to do some sewing before work today and now I can't :P Bother I'll have to pick up a new pack while I'm out tomorrow.

05:21 pm - I'm a sheep in this wolf's clothing, I'm a picture that I'm holding of someone who is cool. If the costume schedules of myself, D'Arcy, Britt and Jenn B ever line up:
AN FFVIII SKIT!
SQUALL: Britt ZELL: Me IRVINE: D'Arcy RINOA: Jenn
*Group walks on stage, all looking slightly frustrated*
RINOA: I can't believe it...we've been travelling for days and we haven't encountered ONE monster. I don't get it!
IRVINE: Yeah, it'll be hard to level up and get better without them. This could make things rough.
ZELL: Hey, don't worry guys. If all else fails, we can just practise on each other. Eh, buddy? Eh? Eh?
*Zell starts bouncing about and punching Irvine in an annoying fashion. Irvine sighs and pushes Zell to the ground with next to no effort. Zell sits there dejected.*
SQUALL: Guys, would you cut it out! This is serious! There's more at stake here than levelling up, then Balamb Garden getting destroyed, even more important than stopping Sorceress Edea. Without battles, how am I going to come up with a victory pose? Have you SEEN the competition from all the other Final Fantasy heroes?! Cloud's is just CLASSIC, there's this new Vaan kid, and Tidus fights on both land AND sea. How can I beat that? I refuse to be the lamest hero!
*Zell gets up* ZELL: Don't sweat it, Squall. If you want, I can help you out. A little one-on-one would do ya good, eh? Eh, buddy? Eh?
*Zell starts jumping around again and punching Squall. Squall sighs in annoyance, shoves Zell to the ground and turns away in his "victory pose" style. Victory music plays overhead.*
RINOA: Squall, do you hear that? You did it! You found your pose! You see, you didn't need to battle monsters to learn it! *she hugs him*
IRVINE: Yeah, man, the passive emoboy in you knew it all along.
SQUALL: *gasps in glee* You're right! I don't need to try to be better than anyone else! I'm ALREADY awesome, and it's BECAUSE I'm so depressed. I'll never find joy in anything again!
RINOA: Um, I don't know if that's quite the way to go, Squall...
IRVINE: Just let him be, Rinoa. I mean, look how happy this has made him.
*Squall has pulled out a mirror and is practising doing emo and hardcore faces in, the whole way fixing his hair. Irvine starts leading Rinoa offstage as he calls back.*
IRVINE: C'mon, chickenwuss, let's get going.
ZELL: *stands up* CHICKENWUSS?! What the - damn, Seifer's not even here and I'm STILL gettin' ragged on! *storms off*
*Squall continues to look at himself in the mirror for a few seconds before pocketing it.*
SQUALL: Damn, I'm good.
*He flips his hair and turns in his "victory pose" style away from the audience. Victory music plays as he walks offstage.*
END!!!!

09:23 pm - "I have a spare, no da!" I love lolling about in a comfy costume piece just after making it :D Makes me proud of it or something, I dunno. I'm sitting here in my new Chichiri pants, though, and they are SO comfy. MTAC is the 17th, so I'll definitely have him done. EXCITEMENT! I've been watching the Fushigi Yuugi episodes I own to keep me inspired while working, and luckily enough I have up to about 4 or 5 episodes of Chichiri. I know, I should just buy the box set, but WHYYYYY does it have to be $200?? :(
I'm just gonna surf for a bit, then style the 'ol wig. I figure, if I can never get the bangs to go up right, at least the rest of it will finally be accurate. I'm also gonna fully paint my necklace, too. Tomorrow I'm going to Canadian Tire, grabbing some PVC parts and getting to work on his staff. Broom handles and tissue paper so longer! I'm moving up in the cosplay world!
My mom didn't wake me up a decent hour today, so I woke up at 2. 0_o WTF?! I know I didn't come home until 3am, but I would've been perfectly happy sleeping 'till 12 at the LATEST. I feel like it should be around 7 right now, not 9:30. Oh well, stay in and have a costume/movie night. They're nice.
Working at Princess Auto so far has been rocking hard. People have made me feel really welcome, moreso than anywhere else I've been. Four days in, and I'm having conversations that would normally take me a month to get to. I'm getting hit on though :S I should've expected it, considering there's tons of guys around, but still. They barely know me!!!
Now let's leave on hilarious FY dialogue.
*Chichiri morphs into Hotohori* CHICHIRI: Now we can be twins no da! HOTOHORI: Now that I'm looking at you....I can see that I'm far more beautiful than you! My hair is more lustrous, my eyes are more evenly spaced, and my nose is longer... CHICHIRI: *teardrop* HOTOHORI: I demand you redesign to a more accurate me at once! 07:09 pm - Yay new pictures! I looked out in my backyard today and noticed how cool the back shed and stairwell looked with all of the snow around it. Quiet, lifeless, a little creepy. So, I threw my Kirie costume on and recruited my dad to take some pictures for me (because he has an AWESOME camera). Check 'em out if you like Fatal Frame!

10:03 am - I'm sorry for blaming you for everything I just couldn't do. Ugh...had a cosplay nightmare. One for every convention, it seems. It's being at the convention centre and realizing I only have one costume with me. One, after all of my work, and it's always the one I spent the LEAST amount of time on. And I always forget my camera, and usually a good chunk of money. Most of the time I try to gauge whether it's worth it to take the bus an hour back home and an hour to return to T.O., just to make all of that costuming worth it. And it always ends with my friends warily going, "So we'll see you...soon?"
"Whenever I can get back," I always say, and I always know it'll be late into the night, therefore wasting around $25 worth of a con badge.
This is why I take a week to make a list of all my costume pieces and pack them before the con. :P
So anyways, I'm so far ahead now with my AN costumes that I've been lazing about. I should really be getting on Chichiri's little tinkerings, since I've decided I would like to wear him to MTAC (it'll probably still be a bit chilly, so Ranma is out - DTAC has taught me that lol). I'm making a new shirt, getting new pants, and making a non-crappy staff. I may also have time to do his proper ponytail on the wig. Thank god that my Jedi robe pattern can be modified to make anything, and it's SO easy to work with. I've already used it for three costumes, and only one has been a Jedi lol.
Oh, and Britt? Are you still planning to make Squall in the future, and if so, when? Because I got a sudden itch to make Zell ^_^ If anything, I want to have him done by Fan Expo to match D'Arcy's Irvine, but he's someone I'd love to cosplay more than once.
I should really stop posting and surfing before I go to work lol, but I'm waiting for my Roma's shirt to dry. So really, what ELSE am I gonna do? Huh? HUH? That's right, nothing ;) Current Mood: waiting Current Music: Hurt - Christina Aguilera

04:08 pm - "...Yeah..." Got Mori dooooooonnne!! *dances* The wig came in this morning, about 10 minutes before heading out the door to work. I'm SUPER impressed with how quickly it came; I got an email saying it was shipped a week ago. Only a week people, from NEVADA! Super cool. Because I was so joyous over this I could discount the fact that the delivery guy showed up while I was utterly pantless and put me into a tizzy trying to find my housecoat :S
So, I'll be wearing Mori to Brita's birthday party! YAY! I'm just going to hop down to Value Village to get a new white shirt, since all I have is a girly one and I must hide the breastliness. I think D'Arcy's working too, so I'll most likely skip over to the mall IN my costume and freak him out. ^_^ Bwahaha!
I hope this isn't one of those situations where you think your makeup looks slightly mannish and really, you just look like a blatantly obvious drag queen lol. I'm gonna take some pics, and I want your opinions, people!

11:23 pm - I've got potential. After the short break post-DTAC, I am SO excited to start up some cosplay projects. Why, you ask? Could it be a BRAND NEW SEWING MACHINE?!?! Why, I think it is! *dances* Teehee, my parents lurv me.
Not that I have any HUGE projects in line right now anyhow. My only from-scratch project is Luna, and I'm already about 40% into her, which is far more than I had originally thought. If I make my ballgown for AN that'll be something else, but it's just a long skirt, some flowy arm bands and a veil - EASY.
I know, I know, I always revise my lists, but as of now MTAC will be possibly Mori-senpai (I should get on ordering that wig :S) and either Ranma or Blank. My legs have gotten a bit bigger *is guilty of holiday binge eating* and so we'll see how confident I feel about showing THOSE off *sweats*
I can't wait to do Mori! And Lucca again! And EVERYONE!! And my Fan Expo costumes will, as of now, be totally fucking killer, as I've nearly officially added The Bowler (from Mystery Men) to my other hopefuls, which I've already talked about.
SEWING. On my new sewing machine! YIPEE!!
AND, I'm going video game shopping at EB tomorrow. I'ma be a happy little geek girl! I'm hoping to find Soul Caliber III, Final Fantasy IX (my bro's copy has a disc missing) and - if I'm lucky and brave enough - one of the Fatal Frames. I'd like to start at the beginning, admittedly because I cosplayed Kirie and am now biased lol, but any of them will do at this point. 08:15 pm - All I care about is love. Well, I've come out of the madness of mid-November well enough, and I'm getting back into the mood to do some costuming. ^_^
I'm going out after work tomorrow to get my blue jacket for Mori-senpai, then I'll probably jet on down to Ottawa St. to get some Ranma/Mori/Luna related ribbon-and-buttonry, and look for a suitable Mori wig.
Oh, and who just ordered an Ouran patch on ebay? Oh yeah, ME!! Lame to get excited, but I've never done the ebay thing before. I just finished the series, and thus have cemented my fandom. Oh dear god...help us all. :D
Other than that, not much happening. Okay, that's a lie, A LOT happening, but all of the non-cosplay and con stuff is obviously in my other journal. It would get too tiring to copy and paste everything all the time :P So if you really wanna know...take a look see at my killcore_child account! Current Music: All I Care About is Love - Chicago

November 16th, 2006
10:06 am - Pull the trigger and the nightmare stops. Phew.
After this Friday, I'll actually be able to make my touch-ups to Ranma. Two weeks gives me PLENTY of time for this. I'm still sad that the rest of them aren't doing their Ranma costumes anymore, but hey - I've been wanting to remake my old Ranma-chan for three years now, this was just a good opportunity to do it.
I noticed some things, though, which is why I should've been looking off of the anime pics and not the manga: - I made her pants black, not navy blue - I have no slits down the sides of the shirt...the reference pics I have are REALLY inconsistent with this - I have no freakin' clue what colour the ribbons on her pants are. Seriously, they keep changing! - I had the white lining on the base section of the shirt, just not the sleeves and collar. I can just add to at least the collar, but doing the sleeves now would be such a bitch.
Although...I did short sleeves because I ran out of material. Should I decide last-minute to buy a bit more fabric and do long sleeves, I'll just add the lining then. I think I have enough....
But yeah....YAY convention! I'll be pretty wiped though, if I go to my staff party the Saturday night before. Haha...zombie convention. Others are talking about Christmas-ing up their costumes, but I don't know how I would be able to work it into mine. The only thought I had was to wrap green or gold garland around my waist instead of the regular black sash. Good idea or no? That, and I could wear a Santa hat. :P
I really should be getting ready for work...hehe...*guilty grin* Sooooo...BYE! Current Mood: excited Current Music: Three Evils - Coheed and Cambria

03:25 pm So...I'm working on my costumes.
No, really. Stop laughing. WHY ARE YOU STILL LAUGHING?!
Alright, I lied...I haven't sewn a stitch for at least a week. Plus, since I have a part in a college short film, that'll suck up most of November. I guess it's a good thing I started Ranma so early.
But I was almost done, had to adjust the shoulders, which then messed up my collar. So now I have to reattach that :( And the front clasps...I'm indecisive as to what to use for them so it's taking an unnecessarily long time for me to buy anything for them.

09:57 pm Kay, so I figure a really cool future cosplay (besides the dozens I already have in mind :P) would be Ceres in her full goddess form. The only question I have for you guys is:
Mange Version?

or
Anime Version?

It was first the manga version that made me fall in love, but with the way I feel about my body....well, the anime definitely wins on that front. Opinions?? Current Mood: thoughtful

11:55 pm - Is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can here me. I need to remember what my cosplay missions are for next year. This entry is more just for my own reference points, but if you find it interesting you can read it :P
DTAC - GET YOUR RANMA SHIRT STARTED, DAMMIT!
ANIME NORTH - Luna and Carbuncle are definitely at Anime North - Soi is a possibility if I can get that much done - I would love to have Lucca for that Chrono group, so she might replace Soi for the time being.
GCAF/MTAC - God knows I'll be way too busy on Fan Expo by this time to make a ton of new stuff - Maybe do a bit of Chichiri revamping - Rewear some stuff to save me the time, money and trouble
FAN EXPO '07 - Make myself the Question/Coin Box from Super Mario! Oh yes, you all think I'm joking, but I'm DEAD. SERIOUS. It'll be easy to make, I'll make little coins to throw out at people and everybody shall love me, MWAHAHAHA! Anyone else wanna be random Mario objects? i.e. bombs, bullets, paratroopas, even bushes lol. Probably not :( - I would still do a Holy Grail cosplay if other people are interested, but ONLY if I have other people. It's not fun to see a lone knight riding an invisible horse, you need at least two! - Somebody remind me, I want to do a Beatrix cosplay sometime in my life! More FFIX, MORE! Boob and blade and eyepatch! Should my super-simple box costume grant me tons of time, I may attempt it for Fan Expo
My, my, my...I waste too much money and thought on this cosplay business. I'm so glad I've already gotten most of my Luna and Carbuncle materials. As of right now, I can't even afford to buy materials for a whole new costume, hence my rewearing Lucca. Now I should sleep, because I work at 11 tomorrow. 11:29 am - Rise and shine, wipe the sleep out of my eyes So obviously I just cross-posted my CNA report about a week later :P But I hardly ever come on this journal, and sometimes it's a pain to log out of one journal just to log right back into another.
WELL ANYWAYS. That thing called my life.....
It's weird not being back in school. Hanging out at Mac with Jen, Nate and Kelsey made me realize that I'm still hurting a bit from that rejection letter. I think the hurt was always amplified by the fact that it wasn't MYSELF preventing my acceptance, but OTHER people. Whether it was OUAC, the Mac Registrar, or the other applicants, it was always my future in other people's hands as opposed to my own. This is a sucky sort of knowledge. I'm still as okay with the year off as I could be, but being on campus made me remember how much I want to LEARN on that campus. Oh well, from what my letter said, they're accepting Fall '07 applications starting late October. I'm getting in on that shit with a VENGEANCE.
I'm still looking for work...today is online day. I asked SER about working this week, and nada; I think it's going to be like that for a loooooong time, so right now I'm just working Saturdays. NEED JOB. I won't lie that having some time off is a nice change, but come next week I'm going to start getting desperate and restless, I just know it.
Well, the time off has given me some chances to start on Luna. I had the basic sewing done for her yellow skirt, and am in the process of hemming her blue shirt. She just has so many damn layers, that I'm trying to reduce the amount of bulk that should technically be at my middle. Instead of a full dress, full shirt with skirt pieces, a waist cincher AND a tied sweater, I am: 1) Making they yellow skirt separate, and just adding on the blue patterned pieces separately from the shirt - the two will just be attached on the waistband. 2) Doing the blue/white bodice and - instead of having a whole other layer underneath - just attaching yellow sleeves to make it look like there's a full dress.
Let's see how THIS works out.
I also got my green fur for Carbuncle. At the price of fur, I now HAVE to make this costume. If I don't, I've just wasted about $30. :P I'm definitely not down with that. Plus I want to make a sign that says "Summon Me!" I'm hoping it'll be like what my Cait Sith doll was to Red XIII, a little piece that kicks up people's memory and helps them to recognize the costume. I need an FFVIII character for the chess match so they can summon me! That'd be so cute! ^_^ I'm trying to find other summon cosplayers for a photoshoot, but I know it'll be hard. Sarcasm-hime said she was wanting to do Siren, but she's already attached to a group cosplay. Oh well....just a little furry GF on his lonesome this year, I guess. :(
As for my third costume? I'd still really like to do Soi, but I change my mind often and sometimes my group sways my decision. I figure leaving one day open makes it easier to back away from an idea. But I know that the most people will recognize her at Anime North as opposed to any other con, so it's still SO tempting. So, if I still have the time to learn how to do leather armour, I may just go for it.
My mom asked me if I ever stop with the cosplay. The answer? OF COURSE NOT. If I don't start on my next costumes RIGHT after the last convention, how will I get anything done?
I didn't even have the heart to tell her I'm making Ranma-chan for December...I think she'd be more likely to stress over that than I am. I think I just need to make the top, so I'm not worried.

Alrighty, so Thursday night I wasn't able to go to Britt and Dani's until around 11 since Dani was home at 10:30. But the 'lil mofo (a.k.a. Dani) wasn't informed of how late I was getting there, so she called and was all, "Where you be at, foo?" and I was all, "Yo dawg, I wuz chillaxin' 'til you returned to da crib, SO DON'T GET ALL UP IN MAH GRILL!!" And yes, we ARE that black. :) Daddy drove me up, and we hung about watching the Simpsons and other such hilarity until we got tired. Right before bed, Britt showed me a HILARIOUS music video someone made on youtube. It's one of the trailer soundtracks for The Lord of the Rings, with Gandalf's narration. Well, this guy..girl...whoever took the audio and put in anime shots instead to make the trailer. ALL of the anime characters were LotR appropriate too (DBZ's Master Roshi as Gandalf, Krillon as Frodo, Ashitaka from Princess Mononoke was Legolas, etc.) I need to get the link off of her and bookmark, because it's definitely one I want to watch again and again. :D
The rest of the report will be done in LJ Cuts for your reading convenience!!! **EDIT**: Lj Cut is being a Big Stupid, so I apologise in advance to your Friends Pages :P
Friday We woke up bright and early (6:30, EWWWW) so we could eat and get to the bus by 8:30. I don't know if we were still too tired or delirious or what, but we were giggling A LOT, which resulted in the dorkiest line of the day. "Guuuuyyysss, stop, the laughing is making me naseous!" Spoken by Britt, whereafter Dani repeated it in geekiest voice she could muster. There was also discussion of how we would keep hotdogs good in a hotel room...apparently "Stick it in the ice tub!" was the funniest response ever.
The bus ride was uneventful...pretty sure I slept during the last fiften minutes or so, but it was one of those stupid sleeps where it feels like you've only closed your ideas and suddenly it's like an hour later :P We met up with Bealy in Harvey's, then tromped over to the Strathcona - getting lost along the way, of course. It was CLEARLY right in front of our faces when we walked out of the Station, but we're stupid.
The hotel guys were AWESOME. It was around 11 or so, and we went to the lobby to meet up with Kirstin and Rutherford. I just went to the desk to ask WHEN check-in was (supposed to be 2 p.m.) but he let us check in right then! WOOT! I was also wary of having two extra people in each room, so I asked about extra fees. His response? "Pffft, you could have TEN extra people if you wanted, if you don't mind having only one bed." SCORE for the kickass, non-caring hotel guys! So we shipped our stuff upstairs, came back down and saw the two kiddies. They carted us out for breakfast, because we were all starving and OH MY DEAR GOD, if you're ever on Yonge and Front, go to the Richtree Restaurant! It's like a food bar; you're handed a card when you walk in, and you can go to any section ie, meat, sandwiches, seafood, dessert etc. you want. They just add whatever the total for say, a smoothie, is and you can hop right on over and get sushie and they add THAT total. End of the meal, they just swipe your card, total it and that's what ya pay! Of course, it's dangerous because you don't realize how much you're spending AKA Sunday's lunch *coughcoughtear* but it's awesome! Everything is made fresh too. Get the veggie omelet, there's more veggies than egg ^_^
Okay, so enough of THAT!! ^_^'
Trever and Pat were supposed to be coming with our big luggage in Trev's car, so we had to wait for them until we could get changed. In what I've been told is true Trever style, he got lost and took quite a bit of time getting there. Luckily we had JUST reached our restless point as they came through the door. We got changed - I glued gunned my Lucca hat minutes before heading out the door - then we were on our way.
NOTE: I DON'T enjoy the South Building of the Con Centre. CNA has always been in the North, but I guess there were complications with booking this time, so that's where they stuck us. The shortest way to get there is going in the Union Station and up the skyway, at which point the convention is held on three or four floors, which a LONG escalator to get to each one. ANNOYING. The dealer's room was cramped, and I couldn't tell you were any of the theatres or panel rooms were....probably hidden on the upper floors.
That aside, Friday was a lot of hanging out mostly, and running into people. People really seemed to like Lucca, which was great. She was the one I worked hardest one and cared the most about. The helmet stayed intact too lol, which was a pleasant surprise. I'm going to fix the helmet completely and cosplay her again sometime. Friday night, myself Trever, Britt and Pat went into the underground city to record our CD for the masquerade, and I guess Dani and Jenn came to find us. By that time, though, we were already back and Britt and I couldn't get into our hotel room because they had taken the keycard! :P We were able to get another one at the front desk, but that nullified THEIR keycard so I had to let them in at like 2 in the morning. I'm not sure HOW that keycard business sorted itself out, but eventually we had two working ones again, and I handed back like six cards in total lol.
Saturday Pat and I woke up HELLA early, around 7 or so, so she could work on my Princess Leia hair and so I could help her get into her Jenova costume (which I'll provide a link to the pic for - you'll see why we took so long doing both :P) Seriously, Pat is a crazyass bitch, but a brilliant one when it comes to costuming. Her Jenova costume was incredible, and she couldn't go five steps at the con without getting a pic taken. Add on Britt as an Advent Children Cloud and EVERYBODY wanted in the action!
I got a few pics taken, most notably the two I took with a Chewbacca and an Anakin, respectively. I wasn't expecting MUCH recognition, since Leia's Endor rebel gear is one of least popular, but it made it more worthwhile for the people who DID get it. :) I spent most of the day silently bidding other Star Wars cosplayers to me, specifically a Qui-Gonn and Obi Wan pair a level above us. "HELP ME OBI WAN KENOBI! YOU'RE MY ONLY HOPE!!!" He didn't respond :( Damn his professionalism.
Most of Saturday is a blur because of how little time we actually spent AT the con. The morning was spent in the line masquerade registration line, then we had to be in the green room for 5...so we had about 3 or 4 hours to ourselves. Between walking from place to place and feeding Pat through her tube, how were we supposed to do anything? Haha, to explain, getting Pat to eat in Jenova was a HUGE undertaking. First, we had to lift up the bottom so she could sit, one person had to hold the top of the hoop when she WAS sitting, and the rest of us had to hand her food INTO the tube just so she could get at it. I think one sandwich and a Coke took almost 45 minutes.
Because there's not much else to explain, I'll talk about the masquerade. We were entered as Skit #28, which was a GREAT position to be in. The audience is really into the masq, and they aren't antsy yet. The script got lots of laughs *feels the love* and Pat's costume got a Workmanship Award for Best Creative Interpretation. For some reason, we ALL got ribbons, which made me feel kinda guilty, but oh well. Britt and I are saying it's for the skit, because we thought it deserved something too lol.
When we got back to the hotel, it was pizza time! WOOT! Three large pizzas and eight hungry people...oh the insanity! When the others retreated to their room, the four of us (me, Dani, Jenn and Britt) played the sountrack game. It's like the ones people post on here, where you put your player on random, and come up with scenarios. We had things like "Funeral Songs" and such for all eight of us. Hilarity all around! I conked out pretty early, apparently, because I guess Trever and Rufu came in to hang and I didn't even wake up. :S I WAS TIRED, OKAY??
Oh, and I unfortunately didn't get to meet Carrie Fisher...the guest signing lines were ridiculously long and confusing, BUT, I did: - Have Verne Troyer (Mini Me) scoot by me and say hello - Have Alice Cooper and his entourage walk right by us - Share sink space with Julia Landau (Druscilla from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) - Have Braid Swaille go by me on the escalators (HOTTIE!) - Meet Jeremy, Kyle and Taji from Pure Pwnage, got D'Arcy a signed shirt and took a pic with the Pwnerer himself!
Of course these aren't the same as the Elijah Wood Sighting and Picture Taking of 2005...but dammit, I'll take what I can get!
Sunday Sunday morning was a good end to the weekend, methinks. We got to sleep in a bit, around 9 or so, and I was able to put Kirie on with far more leisure than my other two costumes. Packing DURING getting ready wasn't the nicest, but at least most of my stuff was in one big pile. Pat, Britt and Kichy were also in their Fatal Frame costumes - Blinded, Brushing and Sae, respectively, so we made quite the bloody group going through the con. ^_^ YAY FOR DEAD PEOPLE!
We got quite a few group shots this day, and eventually one of us came up with the idea of screaming everytime someone took a pic (because, that's what the ghosts do in the game when you get a shot). Of course, few people actually KNEW the game, they just thought the costumes were good, so we freaked people out when we screamed. Haha, victory!
The best part of the day was meeting up with CSI group. Yes, there was a group who went as CSI: Toronto, with full uniform and supplies. They were a convention favourite. :) Pat skipped up to them in her gouged-eye glory and went. "We're dead!! Can we get a picture of you inspecting our bodies?" They were awesome sports, so they consented and told us to lie down and close our eyes. I was just expecting a shot or too, then suddenly I hear, "OKAY PEOPLE, STEP BACK, THIS IS A CRIME SCENE!" I peek through my eyelash a bit and see them circling us with yellow tape and breaking open their kits!! Yes, my friends, they started a FULL improved homicide investigation. IT WAS FUCKING AWESOME. I couldn't see anything, obviously, but suddenly I could hear and feel a sea of people around the circle and little camera flashes were going off through my eyelids. After about five minutes or so, they told us to rise from the dead lol. So I sit up and open my eyes and we find out that the whole scene had been shot by something from Royal Canadian Air Farce. We might be going on national TV, bitches! Sure, they'll probably make fun of us to death (HAHA! TO DEATH! I MADE A FUNNY!), but if anyone's gonna do it, I'm glad it's them. :D
Sunday was Dealer's Room Day. I don't know EXACTLY how much I spent, but let's put it this way: I went in with about $450 in my bank account (hotel doesn't count, since I put that on my Visa). When I came out of the con, I only had about $100 left. Take off about $50 for food and drink, and THAT, my dear friends, is A LOT of money spent on swag. :S But it was ALL sexy and worth it.....an end-of-summer treat to myself. But I'm still really happy I got paid today lol...... *teardrop*
Probably the most disappointing thing for me was that I didn't see all of the people that I wanted to. I missed Natalie, John, Gina, all of them people that I see every con since GCAF. I DID see Lindsay about three times, though, and everytime we'd point and squeal, so THAT was definitely awesome. CNA was off, but I'm sure it was because everyone was trying to adjust to the new enviornment. There's been assurances from Dawn (one of the super-popular convention staff) that they're fighting already to get the North building next year. I think that'll put things back where they need to be. For now, it's DecTAC and Anime North to the rescue! And yes, I'm starting my costumes tonite....STOP LAUGHING AT ME AND CALLING ME A GEEK! *sulks*
Oh, and because some of you asked for pics before I left, here are some links for ya!! ^_^
Our masquerade skit, for those who know and love both Star Wars and Final Fantasy! (Be patient, we're the last in Video 7 :P) **NOTE**: You should still watch the whole youtube link, there's a kickass Goku AND a Gundam mecha in it!!! My cosplay.com gallery! August 21st, 2006
09:41 am - Paranoia, paranoia, everybody's coming to get me. Oh. Dear. God.
When did it suddenly become August 21?! I still have my calendar turned to June, for God's sake! Okay, so that's just because I'm really lazy, but still...the months have gone by so fast.
I haven't done any costume work in forever, and suddenly I need to tie up my loose ends in two weeks. :S
I've resigned my Leia poncho to paint. At least pre-washing the fabric isn't necessary; I'll still do it to be safe, but it's not required.
Everything else is touching up....which is, in my opinion, the most agonizing part. I'd rather do big pieces, and get it all done in one or two sittings. I think that's why I liked doing Kirie so much...y'know, besides the fact that she's all dead. And dead people are awesome to dress up as. *evil grin*
I need to dedicate at least one hour a day this week to SOMETHING cosplay. That way, I get some worry-free time in next week before the con.
Okay, that's a lie...I'll still have stuff unfinished lol. Current Mood: busy

July 31st, 2006
07:25 pm - You should know by now, when the checkered flag goes down... I'm...planning on buying fabric this Wednesday for Luna. Luna is a next-year costume. Therefore...I'm a doofus. :P I mean, I'm getting all hyped up to make her costume and I'm still finishing up things for CNA!! I neeeeeeed:
~ To finish up the odds and ends of Lucca's helmet. I'm still trying to find materials...not good. I definitely need to become more crafty with weapons and armour. I was going to make her hammer in addition to the plasma gun, but now I might not have enough time.
~ To make the chaps for Irvine's pants. Sure, I'm just going to the lazy route and sewing a cut up jean front and back to the brown pants...and it will only take about half an hour...but I need D'Arcy to GIVE me the pants first.
~ Dye and sew Leia's poncho...I'm getting worried about this one. As I'd mentioned before, I was planning on dying the fabric outside on a nice day. Thing is, it's hard to tell WHEN it'll be a nice day lately. The forecast will call for rain, then it will be a beautiful day. Likewise, there will a bright, shiny sun icon and it starts up just before I get myself in "Dye Mode". I think I may have to dye the damn thing one base colour (probably green) indoors and use fabric paint on the rest of it. Booooooo!!!!! Probably easier in the long run, but the colour won't stick around as long, methinks.
~ Quistis' armbands...those damn armbands. Wouldn't it figure that I only found ONE store that sells a soft burgundy pleather, and now I can't remember WHICH store it was?! I'm going to do a thorough search of Ottawa St. until I find it again. I'd like to spruce up the costume more, but I DEFINITELY don't have the time...maybe a new jacket trim, but that's it. At least I have my wig already styled.
And of course, Kirie's the only one complete. KIRIE, the character from that game that I've never actually played :P Oh, how the fates turn against me! *dramatic hand to forehead*
D'Arcy's boss scheduled him in for work on September 1, the day CNA is starting. He wouldn't be out until 9 p.m. He had told her that he needed all long weekends off, but being a big stupid she didn't catch on that Friday evening IS part of the weekend. Big stupid :P I hope he can find somebody to take his shift; he said there's three possible people who could. If he can't come, then our masquerade skit is screwed. I feel bad, because that's pretty much the only reason Brita is making her Cloud costume. We'll find a use for it, Britt, I swear! We'll make a new skit if he can't come!! WE SHALL PERSERVERE!!!! *heroic music*
In other news, I shall be quite inebriated at some point the weekend of August 12th. Why? Because I'm turning 19. *devious grin* Current Mood: motivated with no materials :( Current Music: The Flag - Barenaked Ladies

03:30 pm - I've had a knack from way back of breaking the rules once I learn the game I got some cool pics for Kirie! Well...they were normal pics that I messed around with in Photoshop to make them cool lol. They're up on my cosplay.com account. I also finally filled out some of my costumes and finished display pics for my costume list.

July 11th, 2006
01:49 pm - I bring her gold and frankencense and myrhh. Must....force self to....sew!! Work sapping all...will...to live!!
I'm sloooowly trimming the Irvine jacket with sheepskin, then I'll have to take it in for D'Arcy's lean 'lil waist. Damn his lean 'lil waist!! *shakes fist*
I also decided to buy Kirie's wig; it was only $12, which is less expensive than buying temp dye. Plus, with the work straigtening my hair would've taken. Bah to that hideous process! I found a wig with a side part and bangs too, which I thought would be hard to find. But BAM! right there in Kerry's, didn't even have to go to Penny Pincher's for it. ^_^
Ummm...what else? I'm going see if I can dye my fabric for Leia's poncho. Brown and white and green all over!! At least no one will notice if I spill all over my lawn lol. Dye in a spray bottle, dye in on paintbrush, whut whut?!
I'm....so sorry. Slow, eight-hour days sitting at desk have clearly rendered me insane. Current Mood: crazy Current Music: Jane - Barenaked Ladies
